Welcome to Lake Cathie

Lake Cathie (pronounced by the locals as Cat-eye) is a town at the very north of the Camden Haven district, which is located a short ten minutes south of Port Macquarie and forty minutes north of Taree. The lake is hugely popular and considered a safe lake for families that is opened both naturally and forcefully to the ocean when it reaches a certain height.

The village is very proud of its setting with its beautifully kept parks, hidden lagoons, and long sandy beaches. The Lake at Lake Cathie also joins to Lake Innes to the north – once a large freshwater lake opened to drain and make way for more farmland.

Just to the north, you will discover Port Macquarie, the region’s ‘adopted capital’, with its many new shopping centers, stunning white sandy beaches, long convict and Aboriginal history and popular tourist attractions.

Lake Cathie is a beautiful beachside village in the Camden Haven valley, which is located around ten minutes drive south of Port Macquarie and just ten minutes from the Pacific Motorway. Sydney is an easy four-hour drive via duplicate motorway. This timeless valley takes in the Camden Haven River as it winds its way from a trickle up in the lush green Comboyne Plateau all the way down to an expansive estuary as it reaches the  Pacific Ocean.

The river passes through the Camden Haven valley taking in the townships of Lorne, Kendall, Kew, Laurieton and Dunbogan, finally entering the ocean between Camden Head and North Haven. Lake Cathie lies directly to the north, separated by protected coastlines overlooking Bartlett’s, Grants and Rainbow beaches.

Lake Cathie Community

Lake Cathie also has a thriving local community with many social and sporting clubs to engage with. The town has a bowling club, Woolworths, shopping centers and playing fields. The village has a proactive progress association with a complete “master plan” of the village seeking to beautify and connect residents with nature.

New Homes in Lake Cathie

Lake Cathie is currently booming and it’s easy to see why. Numerous new housing estates have opened up adjacent to the ocean. Once these housing estates are completed, there will be very little seaside land available in the whole Port Macquarie area.

Tony has designed and built many new homes in the village over the years and loves nothing more than providing top quality construction for those looking for their very own piece of paradise. This includes people looking for:

The main natural attraction to the whole Camden Haven area is the countless estuary’s which make up the Camden Haven catchment area. Beautiful places with names like Queens Lake, Rainbow Beach, Stingray Creek, Herons Creek, Stoney Creek, Watson Taylors Lake, the Klondike, Pilot Beach and Googleys Lagoon are just some of the natural features which are home to an abundance of aquatic and bird life. These waterways are popular throughout the year with surfing, power boating, fishing, water-skiing, dragon boat racing, swimming and kayaking.

Lake Cathie is about 10 minutes’ drive south of Port Macquarie and is situated near some of the coast’s most beautiful natural attractions, including Rainbow Beach, Middle Rock, Queens Lake and Queens Lake Nature Reserve.
